We then got on our way. We were driven in the mini bus to our different drop off points. Once we had been dropped off we had to find our way to the meeting point. This was about half way for us, about 7km into our walk. The meeting point was in the middle of a farm, in which we got chased by a dog and some sheep. The teachers then changed our route as we had walked faster than predicted. They had made it about 7km longer. We then carried on walking. We could see the other group behind us, walking through the field. When we got to Grafham there were no other groups there. We were the first to arrive, the teachers weren’t even there. We picked our spots for our tents and we put them up. Imogen was incapable of doing this and left it to Emily and the boys. One of the remaining groups to arrive came 1 hour after us. By this time we had all realised how burnt we were, because there was a wind none of us realised how hot it was. We were all really hungry so we cooked our dinner. An hour after that the last group arrived. By this time we had eaten the whole of our dinner, and washed up. In the morning we were woken up by geese. One of the other groups had left their food out so the geese were eating out of their bowls. We then started getting ready, but very slowly. We left at 9:30 before any of the other groups. Our route took us around the lake and then through some forests. The weather started out fine then it chucked it down. Luckily everyone was prepared and put on their waterproofs. As we walked more and more people started getting blisters, but we knew that we were nearly there, so we carried on. We were once again the first group to arrive. It took us 3 hours. The other group arrived about half an hour after us, and the other group half an hour after that. Taking off our boots, our feet sighed with relief. I had huge blisters, and couldn’t walk properly. We then got on the bus and returned. After 2 days, sunburn, blisters and tiredness we had finished. All we can say is bring on the real one. By Emily Roberts |
