Lord Coe, the middle distance Olympic gold medallist and the leader in the holding of the 2012 London Olympics visited Westfield Middle School where he met the All Saints Basketball and Queens Park Cricket Community club members.

7 Biddenham students were amongst those there to chat to him and show him their skills and they got him to join in with them too. These were Sara Fernandes, Shanice Celiare, Yasmin Hussain, Usman Zeb, Amir Zeb, Aqueel Afzal and Sarkab Mahmoud.

Sara and Shanice really enjoyed chatting to him about the opportunities, they would like to do more sport and get more involved in athletics too.

Lord Coe left there and went onto the university campus where 3 of the Biddenham sixth form students had the opportunity to take part in a question time forum.

On Tuesday January 22nd three sixth form students accompanied by Miss Eckett and Mr Livesey went to the University of Bedfordshire to go to hear Lord Coe answer questions that had been given in by students from other schools in Bedfordshire.

The 'panellists' were Lord Sebastian Coe, Olympic Gold Medallist at 1500m in the 1980 and 1984 Olympics, Derek Redmond, 400m world silver medallist along with Matt Allen the Bedford Blues captain.

After briefly introducing themselves for the people among the audience who had no clue who they were they told us briefly what made them get into sport and how much watching the Olympics affected them and their sporting careers. They went into talk about the impact that the 2012 Olympics would have on Bedfordshire, hopefully it would increase the sporting opportunities in school and encourage people to become volunteers due to being only 45 minutes away from London.

They spoke about what they were now doing, which is Lord Coe's case is helping to prepare for the Olympics. Redmond is currently training sprinters along with racing motorbikes, and Matt Allen is captain of Bedford Blues.
