What will I Learn? This course enables students to gain a deep and well- informed insight into the environment, and the scientific processes that control and affect it. It looks at areas such as wildlife conservation, pollution, global climate change and sustainability. How will I be assessed? At AS Level there are 2 examination assessed units; The Living Environment and The Physical Environment. At A2 Level there are 2 units which are assessed through a combination of coursework and examinations. The two modules are Energy Resources and Environmental Pollution, and Biological Resources and Sustainability. What are the Entry Requirements? We recommend that candidates should have acquired the skills and knowledge associated with a GCSE Science/Additional Science course or equivalent. It would be advised that a C is achieved in at least one GCSE although this isn’t a necessity. What Extra Costs May be Involved? There are no extra costs involved in this course however the use of waterproofs and sensible walking shoes will be needed for course work data collection. Future Opportunities An AS/A2 Level in Environmental Studies can lead into a very wide variety of higher education degree including many of the science and geography based courses. It provides an ideal base to go straight into employment or to enter wide a range of vocational qualifications. |
