Drama

What will I learn?

You will study the following on the course:
Unit 1 - Exploring Scripts. (Course work)
Unit 2 - Performing/designing a script in Performance.
Unit 2B - Reviewing theatre. (Practical performance and review)

Many students opt to take the Trinity Guildhall qualifications in Drama to enrich their experience. All students are given plenty of opportunities to celebrate their achievements at an annual Festival in the Summer Term. You are also given opportunities to work in collaboration with other organisations and local communities through Drama an extensive extra-curricular programme, co-ordinated by the course leader.
How will I be assessed?

Written and practical work will be regularly marked in accordance with the specifications criteria (see Edexcel Drama and Theatre Studies). Each half term one lesson will be given over for individual meetings to discuss progress, make you aware of your levels of achievement and set targets for improvement. You will also be given a written record of everything discussed at these met tings to ensure that they keep track of their own progress.
What are the entry requirements?

4 GCSEs grades C and above, two of which should be in Maths and English.
You do no necessarily have to have studied Drama at GCSE.
What are the costs?

The Drama department aim to offer you theatre trips and workshops each term at a cost to cover travel and ticket for events. There is a rich diversity of activities to get involved in from workshops, performing arts tuition and outdoor theatre on our open air stage events at lunchtime and after school as well as visits to West End and local theatre and cultural events. All students will be expected to attend the theatre to inform their understanding.
