The Music Collection

Five years ago the "Music Collection" - a team of three professional musicians, came to Biddenham, and on 30th November they made a welcome return.

The chamber ensemble performs mostly 18th and 19th century music on hospitcal instruments - the type played at the time that the composers were actually living.

Throughout Wednesday some of our talented musicians were given the opportunity of a workshop, and later in the evening we were treated to the results - a most enjoyable experience.

Our stars (and I hope I have not missed anyone out!) were Clare Anderson, Declan Anderson, Lucia Ariano, Matthew Bush, Christine Dowdall, Tom Faden, Belinda Goodship, Maria Harding, Rosamund Mills, Simon Mullis, Eve Oliver, Kate Palmer, Amy Parker, Emma Priddin, and Ruth Whitmore.

It's difficult to pick out names, because they all did so well, but I could not help but take my hat off to Declan Anderson and to Simon Mullis. Anyone who braves a wind instrument has my utter admiration; I've never been able to get anything out of a french horn or a cornet other than a slightly rude noise, so top marks to them!

Splendid performance, and well received by the audience! Pictures HERE.
