News items culled largely from Mr. Berrill's report to governors, September 2005

  • Mr Gary Wright was appointed to the position of Assistant Head - Director of Student Progress and Achievement. He will work alongside Mr. Barry Pinder on the Pastoral side and lead the development of a House System, during the year.


  • The following students gained their Level 1 Football Coaching award: Elliott Stamp, Eddie Mills, Ester Gore, Oscar Laughridge. They are now working for Premier Soccer as coaches.

  • Drama
    July 14th saw the Year 10 Dance and Drama showcase. Several Year 10 students performed their Dance and Drama coursework and this was their first public performance.
    Special mention should be made of the following students:
    Louella Midgely, Clio Cornigh, Liam Rees, Charlottw Fleming, Josh Rudd, and also Greg Edwards, who managed the stage lighting for the first time.



    "When did you last see your Parents?" was performed by Year 9 and Year 10 students, directed by Anne Dunnigan. This was a very successful production and special mention should be made of Jilly Mabbitt and Carla Shreves, also to Tom Lennon and Emma Elementon sound/lighting for the first time.


  • Music
    The main piece of news is that following their designation as "Outstanding" in the National Youth Music Festival in Birmingham and effectively winning the competition, the Year 11 (now Year 12) steel pans have been invited to play at the Student Proms in November, at the Royal Albert Hall, London. This will showcase the elite of musical talent in the country. Hearty congratulations to them!
