News items culled largely from Mr. Berrill's report to governors, May 2005

  • Because of the difficulty in recruiting a teacher of Spanish the school is demoving this from the curriculujm in both Years 9 and 10, though a small class will continue in year 11. This will be taught by Mrs Mayne and on line, with some input from Mr. Tomalin.
  • The year 9 and 10 girls six-a-side football teams won their respective Beds. FA tournaments, which is particularly noticeable as girl's football has only revently been introuced at the school.
  • The Rocky Horror show, in March, was a delighful spoof on just about everfy classic horror film one can think of.
  • Successes in music include a Distinction for Sarah Danes (Grade 4 piano) and Honours for Lucy Gallivan (Grade 8 flute).
  • There were successes for our choir and steel bands at the Bedfordshire Festival of Music, speech and drama. The choir was awarded a distinction for its performance. Out steel pans were much in evidence, with outstanding performances. Of the four bands to compete, the sixth from won, being awarded "Outstanding" whiulst the others received distinctions. All of our steel pans took part in the Regional Heats of the National Festival of Music for Youth.
  • Sixth form students put on an entertainment evening to raise funds for Hope House. Over £500 was raised. Special mention should be made of Emily Bennett, Adam Baker and Fiona Crombie.
